Where did you come from?

Projection painting is a useful technique to remove objects from the background when the camera is not locked on a tripod.

Basically, the Bob-omb was always there.

Imagine that I put a photo of an empty floor on top of it (and somehow that shrinks it to atomic size) so the photo is flat on the ground.

This empty floor photo matches perspective thanks to the 3D camera in the computer that mimics my real camera movement.

The camera tracking and projection were made in Blender

Even though this looks simple, it's one of those things that depending on the shot, can take weeks.

Pro tip: Cards are good tracking points!
